Staying healthy is essential for enjoying your African adventure. Here's what you need to know about vaccinations and health precautions.
Required Vaccinations
Yellow Fever: - Required for many African countries - Proof of vaccination needed for entry - Get vaccinated at least 10 days before travel - Certificate valid for life (as of 2016)
Recommended Vaccinations
- Consult your doctor about:
- Hepatitis A and B
- Typhoid
- Meningitis (especially for sub-Saharan Africa)
- Rabies (if you'll be around animals)
- Polio booster
- Tetanus-diphtheria booster
- MMR (if not immune)
Malaria Prevention

- Prophylactic medication options include Malarone, Doxycycline, Mefloquine
- Use insect repellent with DEET
